Lady Storm struggled in busy weekend

The SCC Lady Storm is 2-27 on the season after a busy weekend of softball.

Southeast lost to Marshalltown 18-0 on Saturday, April 5, in the first game of a triple-header held at Hannibal Park.

Head Coach Bob Gingsburg said his team struggled with batting and pitching and had too many errors in the loss.

The Lady Storm dropped a 9-1 decision to Northeastern in the second game, but came back to upend NCC 4-3 in extra innings to cap the day’s action.

Gingsburg said SCC was unable to capitalize on the momentum and confidence from the win, as they went 0-3 in the Conference Tournament on Sunday, April 6, at Columbus.

The Lady Storm fell to Central Community College, 9-1; North Platte CC, 10-6; and McCook Community College, 14-2.

The coach said Southeast was plagued with errors and strikeouts in the tournament.

SCC notched two players on the All-Conference Team.  Kamie Fuller blasted three RBIS and a home run, and Hayley Carlsen totaled two runs on four hits.

McCook won the tournament with a 3-0 record.
