Ninety-one students representing schools throughout KLKN-TV’s coverage area were honored Thursday during the station’s annual “Best of the Class” event held at the Lincoln Campus of Southeast Community College.

Throughout the morning, Channel 8 Eyewitness News camera crews recorded each student for inclusion in the “Best of the Class” commercial announcements, which will begin airing later in May. The students posed for a group photo in the gymnasium before lunch and a short program, which was hosted by Rod Fowler and Vanessa Brown, Channel 8 Eyewitness News anchors. Roger Moody, senior vice president and general manager of the station, also spoke. Each told the students they should be proud of their accomplishments and that they wished them nothing but success for the future.

SCC students Taylor Degarmo, Zack Gropp and Isaac Martin, members of the Lincoln Campus Student Senate, each said a few words to the honored guests. They told the audience the importance of getting involved with campus life and activities.

The “Best of the Class” event honors two graduating seniors from high schools within the station’s coverage area. KLKN-TV sends letters to all high schools in the area, asking them to nominate students from their school for the honor. Students honored came from as far away as Elba in central Nebraska.
